NEVADA TOMBSTONE RECORD BOOK  (ISBN 0-96l6633-l-6 & Library of Congress Number: #85-063866)

A Unique history book of Nevada.. Ghost towns and "live" towns.. Genealogical survey of cemeteries..

WHAT IS IT?

l.  A DELUXE HARD COVER (COFFEE TABLE TYPE) 8 1/2 by ll inch format on acid free paper to insure longevity.  Over 750 pages of vital records. Smyth sewn... halftones... Silver cover with stamped spine.

2.  Includes exceptionally interesting historic newspaper extracts.  Over ll0 pages of obituary listings collected from newspapers widely circulated in the mining and farming towns of the l800's and then sorted alphabetically.  These are particularly interesting as editors of those days were very descriptive when reporting the way a person died.  And who was guilty (before any trial was convened) if that person died in a fray.

3.  An exhaustive research book for family historians.  A survey of every old cemetery (ghost towns included) in Southern Nevada.  All names, dates and epitaphs recorded. The entire lower half of the state of Nevada.  All entries were taken by on-site surveys.  Then all data entered into a computer.  All entries then sorted for easy referencing   It is the end result of an l8 month effort by "Nevada Families Project" volunteers.

4.  A local history book.  Each chapter starts with a historical review of the town in which the research was accomplished.  Reasons for the town's beginning, early settlers, politics, growth, etc.  Each town has a separate chapter followed by the listings/tombstones in its cemetery.  Each chapter is in alphabetical order (from Alamo to Ursine).

WHO NEEDS A COPY OF THIS BOOK?  Historical collections needing a concise, city by city, historical re-cap of each individual town (or ghost town) of Southern Nevada.  Historians, Genealogical Societies, and individual family history researchers.  And, of course, anyone who may want to start interesting conversations about the wild wild west.
