Title: "LAS VEGAS THROUGH THE
GENERATIONS"
Las Vegas REVIEW-JOURNAL
Compiled by: Allan Fleming
Christian Kolberg
Joanne Downey
If it were not for the water that created "the
meadows" we now call Las Vegas, what was once the winter grounds for
the Anasazi, a shorter route on the Old Spanish Trail, a point on numerous John
C. Fremont expeditions, a Mormon mission and a ranch settlement for the Gass and
Stewart families, everything might have been different.
It was this water that led the San Pedro, Los
Angeles and Salt Lake railroad to purchase the Stewart ranch and water rights
that led to an auction of lots at the Clark - Las Vegas townsite on Monday, May
15, 1905. That day, 176 lots sold for $79,566 in the 100 degree plus
temperatures. These first residents formed the foundation of a new
community. Get the inside story in this enlightening collection of historical photographs.
For purchase or more information, try Amazon.com first, then your local bookstore. If that does not produce a result, then the book is possibly "OUT OF PRINT". Check local used bookstores, if a book is found to be out of print. .
