SANDS"
Author: Everett Louis Overstreet
THE AUTHOR SAW A NEED FOR A BOOK ABOUT LOCAL THE BLACK
COMMUNITY -- By Joan Whitely
Las Vegan E. Louis Overstreet likes to settle in
fast. He moved to Las Vegas in 1997 to retire. By the end of 1999, he'd
already written and released a book on the contributions of blacks throughout Las Vegas
history. In addition he accepted a job as executive director of the local Urban Chamber of
Commerce.
"Black Steps in the Desert Sands" is the title of
Overstreet's book, which is equally an historical chronicle, report card on
black Las Vegans who impacted this part of Nevada, and analysis of options for
the black community.
